Rice

Under the artistic name RICE, Eduard Sacrest is a UK-based visual artist and muralist from Barcelona. His practice is primarily rooted in public space interventions, using the environment and its landscape as a canvas to interact, express his concerns, and spark reflection on the social challenges of our time.

With this creative dynamic and the possibility of communication and performance that the streets provide, he creates site-specific works in where to reactivate the attention in public spaces. Seeking to act as a speaker and story teller in hope of offering visibility to the protagonists of his portraits and through their stories activating a reflection around issues related to loneliness, distance, queerness, love and isolation.

His work can be found in cities such as London, Frankfurt, Berlin, Utrecht, Paris, and Barcelona, and he has participated in both national and international festivals including Saladina Fest (Mallorca), Ibug (Germany), and Swindon Paint Fest (United Kingdom).
He has also exhibited in galleries such as the Museu de la Garrotxa (Girona), Art’Otel Gallery (London), Visual Aids (New York City), and the Spanish Embassy (Washington).

Combining both studio and street work, he is also deeply committed to educational and social projects, using mural painting and urban art as pedagogical tools for community engagement and as engines for social change.
